Before you do ANYTHING PacMani has biult a little tool for that. So be sure to check out his gallery.
PacMani

Ok here we go
(I hope the instructions are right because I have a german windows7)
FILES ARE 32bit if anyone has 64bit please upload
The idea was to use the borders as shadow or completely leave them but the aero blur was a pain in the ass
So I looked on the net and found a way to disable blur
The first thing you have to do is make sure which version of windows 7 you have.
Version:
6956, 7022, 7048, 7068, 7127 works without patching
7000, 7077, 7100(RC) needs to be patched

Instruction for Versions: 6956, 7022, 7048, 7068, 712
Start>Regedit>[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM]
Create a DWORD: HideBlur=1
Then press STRG+Shift+F9 twice

Now Instructions for Versions: 7000, 7077, 7100
1.Disable DWM:
To do that go into System Control Panel type in the search: service
Then there should be an entry named "Show Lokal Services"
There search for Session Manager for Desktop Window Manager and shut it down.
2.Take Ownership of DWM.exe and uDWM.dll
Go into Hardrive\Windows\System32
Right click DWM.exe go under Security Tab then click advanced
go to owner tab click edit and click your name click ok
then ones more right click DWM.exe go under security tab but then click edit then if your name is listed click it and give yourself full permission if it's not listed click add then type in your Name, click ok and give yourself full permission.
Do the same thing with uDWM.dll.
3.FIRST DON'T FORGET TO BACKUP THE FILES----Copy the DWM.exe and uDWM.exe from the zip.
Unpack the Zip file in it there are the files from Windows 7 Version 7127
and copy them into Hardrive\Windows\System32
4.Then start Session Manager for Desktop Manager again
From now on you can use the instrucions from the other versions.

The taskbar remains blured

So now for skinners:
Simply use shadows instead of borders that's the trick ;)

I hope everything is clear

PS: Don't know if it was the skin bur for me the right resizer went away.
And don't blame me for spelling mistakes I'm austrian.

Unfortunatley PacMani deactivated his account and I don't have Win7 so I don't really know if you will be able to find a working patch for your version.
But try to look around in google for: "Hide Blur Tool for Windows 7"
I believe that's how PacManis Tool was called.
Kishan Bagaria also made one Windows 7 Aero Tweaker.
But I believe that both tools I mentioned are outdated as well. So they might ruin your system.
That's all I can tell you sorry.

thanks for your effort and info!
so there's no way to reach PacMani?
I know about the tool by Kishan Bagaria... but his tool disables the blur in all the interface. Your patched files removed only the blur of window frames.

Unfortunately I don't know any way to reach him.
What do you mean by disables blur in all the interfaces? I thought blur only exists in the window frames and taskbar.

the blur is present in many places: start menu, Alt+TAB panel, taskbar thumbnails, window frames etc.
I want to disabled only the blur in the window frames... but that's not possible using Kishan Bagaria's tool.

Oh I thought it would do the same. Well it's a shame. I guess Windowblinds is the only way left now.

naaa... can't stand WindowBlinds... bloatware piece of crap. It never worked like the native windows themes.

Mood: Confused ~robotkoer Oct 20, 2011  Hobbyist Interface Designer
1) What does it do at all? It just makes borders smaller?
2) Does window titlebar still look normal then?
3) Where can I find that tool by PacMani? Can't find it on gallery...

actually this is a pretty old deviation from the windows 7 beta days
it was mainly for skinners and just hid the blur which made a 1px border with aero (but without blur) possible
pacmani's tool is here: [link]
but he links to a easier to use program by kishan-bagaria: [link]
